How to get to Donostia-San Sebastián

By plane:

Bilbao airport (BIO): About 1:20 hour drive from San Sebastián. A direct shuttle bus running (in summer) every 30min connects Bilbao airport and San Sebastián for 17 € (bus timetable (pdf)). The bus leaves directly after the exit from the airport building (ground floor) and connects to the bus station in San Sebastian (Federico García Lorca Pasealekua, 1, 20012 Donostia, Coordinates: Latitude: 43.316258 | Longitude: -1.977277) in ca. 1:15h

San Sebastián airport (EAS): 30 minutes drive from San Sebastián. Small airport with domestic connections to Madrid and Barcelona. Iberia flies to this airport. A regular bus connects the airport and the city (start from "Aeropuerto San Sebastian", timetable is available at http://www.lurraldebus.net/). A taxi connecting the airport and the city should be around 30 €.

Biarritz airport (BIQ): 40 minutes drive from San Sebastián. Air France flies to this airport, and some low-cost airlines such as Ryanair also fly here. Bus connection is available from the airport to San Sebastián. For more information check http://www.conda.es/

By train:

The Adif train station “Estación del Norte” is in the center of San Sebastián, close to Urumea river. It offers connections to several Spanish cities, including Madrid and Barcelona.
There is also Metro Donostialdea, http://www.euskotren.es, popularly known as “Topo”, a narrow-gauge train connecting San Sebastián with cities along the Basque Coast, from Bilbao to Hendaye (France).

By bus:

The San Sebastián bus station has lines to cities throughout Spain. The main company traveling here is Alsa http://www.alsa.es/.

By car:

The city is connected to the rest of Spain by the N-1 (Madrid-Irun highway), AP-8 (Bilbao-Irun highway), and A-15 (Pamplona-San Sebastián highway).

Within town:

San Sebastián has a dense network of public transportation. You can find the best connection on the DBus website. The bus stop closest to the main bus station (where the buses from Bilbao arrive) is called "Iparreko Geltokia". The town is not big: it's about half an hour's walk from the bus station to the Palacio Miramar (and the walk is quite nice, mostly along the beach).
